Ash Wednesday Celebrated at RHS:  Embracing Reflection, Repentance and Renewal

On 21 February 2024, the spirit of Ash Wednesday filled the air as students, teachers and school members gathered to celebrate this sacred occasion and marked the beginning of the season of Lent. The school chapel became a space of reverence, embodying the three pillars of Ash Wednesday and the whole Lenten season, which is a time to change our lives and grow in God.

In the Morning Prayer session earlier, students were reminded about the three pillars of Lent, namely prayer, fasting, and almsgiving. They were encouraged to develop a closer relationship with God through the observation of the three pillars. In the afternoon, Catholic students and teachers from Secondary and Primary sections (also spiritual leaders), with teachers from Kindergarten, attended a mass to further commemorate Ash Wednesday, and deepen the Lenten spirit through gospel reading, homily, prayers, hymns, and especially receiving the blessed ashes, and embracing Jesus Christ the living Lord in Communion.

Amidst the celebration, students and teachers united in their commitment to spiritual growth, allowing Ash Wednesday to serve as a catalyst to strengthen our faith and touch our soul towards Jesus’ Resurrection and of our own.
