Solemn Mass Celebration of St. Dominic

Solemn Mass Celebration of St. Dominic

May 24, 2024, RHS

On May 24, 2024, Catholic teachers and students from all three sections gathered in the school chapel to celebrate the Feast of St. Dominic in a solemn Mass as our tradition, which was the peak and conclusion of the Annual Religious Week of Rosaryhill School. The Mass was presided by Father Provincial Ruben Martinez, concelebrated by Fathers supervisor-Hyacinth, Francisco, Moses, Martin Bai and Bosco, and helped with chanting by School and novice-Brothers choirs, and with serving by Secondary and Primary altar boys and girls. It was a momentous celebration of St. Dominic’s Feast Day for the School established by a Dominican Father Gonzalez in 1959.

The Mass was conducted to recall and honour the first-translation of the relics of the Founder of Dominican Order, St. Dominic (1170-1221). The Mass was filled with particular readings and gospel on preaching, featured prayers, and traditional Dominican hymns, and with incense winding around the altar and St. Dominic’s statue and even the whole chapel.

In the homily, Father Ruben highlighted St. Dominics lifelong dedication to preaching, teaching, and serving the people in need. The believers gathered were once again reminded of the importance of a loving heart and a giving soul, especially with the passion for truth.

Immediately after the final blessing, the whole congregation prayed to God through St. Dominic’s intercession, for continuous blessing and guiding us in preaching and practicing the Truth, as what he did in his whole life.
